An Engineer
I'm David Dawei Chen, a Chinese Canadian filmmaker based out of Vancouver, BC. I originally immigrated to Canada to work as a mechanical engineer before pursuing my childhood dream to be an animator. After years of working on 3D animation production lines for Disney and Dreamworks, I recently made the transition to leave and begin animation work as an independent filmmaker.

After immigrating to Canada, working as mechanical engineer, studying 3D animation and working for animation studios, I’m happy to become a filmmaker and I’m ready to tell my own story.
Films...Through this film, I look to evoke rich, moody atmospheres filled with mysterious moments to allow audiences to compare with their own inner worlds, and also discuss the connections between our invisible worlds after experiencing the films.
Have you ever felt that you are being watched? The idea of "Gaze behind masks" came from my real feeling: people are always staring at me behind masks.
